We are accepting submissions for our Spring 2012 issue. The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, February 15th at 11:59 pm but we encourage you to submit before that deadline. In recognition of the various paths undergraduates may take to study law, we welcome submission of research articles, senior theses, and essays embracing a wide range of topics and viewpoints related to the field of law. Undergraduate students in any major, track, or class year should thus feel free to send us their work. Check out www.culr.weebly.com to view past journals or to read our mission statement. Submissions should be double-spaced in Microsoft Word .doc format, follow the Chicago style, and include endnotes. Although we will consider submissions of any length, most papers published in the journal range from 20 to 25 pages. It would be highly appreciated if longer papers could be shortened to fit this page length recommendation before submission. He began his legal career by working as an Associate at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP for three years. He then went on to Goldman Sachs where he acted as its Associate General Counsel and Vice President of Investment Banking Legal for nine years. He is currently the Head of Principal Transactions and M&A Legal at Barclays Capital, having served previously as its Co-Head of Investment Banking Legal. Richard Smith earned his B.A. in Economics from Haverford College and his J.D. from Duke University. Alan Kaplan An esteemed attorney, Alan has spent the majority of his career in corporate law as well. He served as Managing Director & Counsel at Bankers Trust, a historic American banking firm that was acquired by Deutsche Bank in 1998, for six years. He currently works at Barclays Capital as its Deputy General Counsel, Americas. Alan graduated with a bachelors in economics from Brown University and obtained his J.D. from Harvard Law School. After working diligently to read through and select the best submissions possible for its Spring 2011 issue over the past few weeks, CULR is happy to announce the papers that were chosen for its newest issue. "Religious Liberty and the Establishment Clause: An Ongoing Controversy" Andrew Heinrich Columbia University '11 "Rethinking and Reshaping Software Patents" Aaron Koch Dartmouth College '12 "Interest and Power in the International Criminal Court: strengthening international legal norms within a sovereign state system" Alice Xie University of Pennsylvania '14 "Comparative Study of Assisted Reproductive Technology Policy: The Cases of the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany" Vanessa Obas Yale University '11 This semester, CULR received nearly 40 submissions from schools all over the world. The selection process was highly competitive and difficult, given the high volume of qualified submissions received. The deadline for submissions for the Spring 2011 issue is now closed. Thank you to all those who submitted—we received some phenomenal papers from undergraduate students from all over the United States on topics ranging from intellectual property law to national security to legal history. Writers whose papers have been selected for publication will be notified via email by February 24, 2011. |
